Our beloved lab, B.D. (Black Dog) died of lymphoma about 4 years ago. He was part lab and part hound, so he was constantly running off and coming home. He was happy as a clam to have treed a groundhog, or to have rolled in scat. “Perfume!” he seemed to be saying. Although his death, only 2 weeks after his diagnosis, was not unexpected, we were so sad for a long time. We realized that grieving is a process, rather than an event.
