I love looking at photos because it gives the viewer the opportunity to see the world through the photographer’s eyes. Take a look at my world this morning.

Mary writes, “”My favorite mugs. One from my daughter in law and another made by Debra at Elements Gallery”
Susan is another Peninsula potter. She sent us this photo of one of her favorite mugs.
Several years ago, we sponsored Cups of Kindness, a benefit for our local food bank. Pam purchased this mug at that time. She writes, “Not only does it have a dove and peace sign but it cuddles cold hands during times of stress.”
Kelly’s favorite mug is by potter Christa Assad.
I may have found my new sacred mug for home as well as a contender for my studio mug. Take a look. And remember that you still have a few days to send me a photo of your favorite mug. I will enter your name in a drawing to win one of our mugs. Send me your mug shot!
Send your mug shot to FromSkilledHands AT gmail DOT com
It’s the last day of the first month in the year 2012. Temperatures have risen to nearly 60 degrees F; birds are singing Spring songs; snowdrops have emerged, as have other bulbs.

This is a time of new things: a new year, new ideas and a new spam filter here. Thank you for your patience as I figured out how to resolve the posting problem everyone has experienced. Thanks—try again–it should work now.
Painters are an intrepid bunch. Rain—lots of rain, doesn’t seem to be deterring them from participating the the 2011 Peninsula Plein Air Competition. Take a look at what I’m seeing out my window:
The Plein Air Competition will continue throughout the weekend. Tomorrow, Music on the Porches will fill the Village with the sound of music. The Village of Peninsula, population 602, is a vibrant place. As always, feel free to leave me a comment, or a stone, (o), to let me know you’ve stopped by.
We’ve all been to Big Box Hardware Store where you need to take a bus to get to the aisle you want, and where you just might find something unique. Not so in the studio. We make everything one a time, by hand. And if you don’t see it, we can most likely make it for you.
Sinks are one of those kinds of things. We can certainly make the white basin we all remember from childhood, but we can also make something that will complement your decor and your vision. Here are some sinks installed in their homes. Want to know more? Take a look at our sink page.
It’s been absolutely gorgeous in my town, the Village of Peninsula, population 602. Blue skies, warm sunny days. Summer personified! My gardens are full of blooms and hopes for harvest. This is the 3rd year for my mandala garden, and it has filled in quite a bit.
Then:
And now:
In other news, Peninsula Python Day is coming! Saturday, July 16, from 10-5. There will be a plethora of pythons in Peninsula, and a people powered python parade, too. Visit Explore Peninsula, to see what’s on the agenda.

It’s been a little while since I’ve been here. We spent the last week in New York City for our oldest daughter’s college graduation. Its been a long time since we’ve had time away from the Village of Peninsula, population 602. Being surrounded by 8 million people is a bit different from being in my Valley. So much to see and to do: we walked miles and miles, and ate French, Thai, Japanese and diner food. We visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art a couple of times, and would have gone back if they had been open.
Ellis Island, part of the National Park Service, was a powerful place. Between 1892 and 1954, more that 12 million immigrants entered the United States through this small island. Stories and artifacts gave a taste of the experiences of many or our ancestors. I was deeply moved.
Now we are back in NE Ohio, where rain has become a 4 letter word. Rivers and fields are flooded, and ducks and geese glide where crops should be planted. Wednesday’s storm, with high winds, rain, thunder, lightening and hail damaged my garden, and changed my planting plans once again.
The sun is out today, a welcome change from the gray we have experienced this spring. What’s happening in your neck of the woods? As always, feel free to leave me a comment, or a stone (o), to let me know you’ve stopped by.
