Another Fine Day in the Valley

Singer-songwriter Ian Cotter performing at Elements Gallery, Music on the Porches, 2012

We closed the door at 6:45 pm on Saturday, after a good day of music, camaraderie and food from our friends from Thrive.

With gratitude to Ian Cotter, Dale Galgozy, Paul Kolbus and Mark Ray for playing in the Gallery, and to all those who proved that the arts are alive and well and living in the Valley.

And thanks to the fine folks from the Village who welcomed all the people who came down to enjoy this beautiful place.

Next Saturday, October 6, from 9:00 am-4:00 pm, residents, merchants and assorted other folks will open their garages, basements and attics for the Village of Peninsula’s annual Peddlers’ Day. Maps will be available at Village merchants.

We will have our annual Seconds Sale, as well as household items and estate leftovers. Our good friends from Thrive will be here again, starting the day with coffee and muffins, and continuing with healthy and delicious soups, salads, main dishes and desserts.

Thrive is a new purveyor of ridiculously fresh and flavorful vegetarian lunchbox meals, salads, and snacks made with as many seasonal local ingredients as possible.

There’s lots to do in this Village: you can hear music at the GAR Hall, learn about local history at the Peninsula Library and Historical Society and the Peninsula Valley Foundation, shop at our locally owned and operated shops and galleries, eat at our restaurants, have a glass of wine at our wineries, hike in the beautiful Cuyahoga Valley National Park and participate in it’s programs, ride the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.

There are people who can do everything from cleaning your house, to finding you a car, to framing your artwork, to doing your accounting.

Visit Explore Peninsula to find out what’s we have to offer and why Ohio Magazine gave us their Best Hometown award for 2012.

And, as always, feel free to leave me a comment, or a stone (o), to let me know that you’ve stopped by.

You always have good examples of how to use the word community as a verb.
