So there we were, working on new pieces, when, in the distance, we thought we heard bagpipes. It was hard to be sure; the river was running fast and high from all the rain we’ve had. I ventured outside, grabbing my camera, “just in case.” And there he was, playing his bagpipes to the river. I’m told he comes by every now and then to play to her; this time we were fortunate to hear him, too.RSS feed for comments on this post · TrackBack URI

I love the sound of Bagpipes…how neat that is—I wonder if he is practicing for some specific event, or just loving to be outdoors by the river while he practices…..!

I just took up playing the fiddle this year, and my teacher recommended going and playing outside, in parks, wherever. It’s a nice feeling, playing outdoors. Less inhibition.

I love the sound of bagpipes too, which is a good thing: once it’s tourist season here, we hear them all the time. We used to have a neighbor who practiced bagpipes frequently. Not quite as much fun to hear.

What a wonderful spot in which to hear him. I think the Queen has a piper play in the grounds each morning when she is at Balmoral.

Funny, I went for a bike ride in the Metro Parks and heard bagpipes being played in the woods by the river.
