The Process Continues
I continued to work on the triptych yesterday. Saturday is a busy day in the Village of Peninsula, and there was a steady stream of visitors in and out of the studio. People are interested, and it is wonderful to share the process. It is, however, impossible to work without distraction. Being quiet and attentive to the process is a challenge.

How do you maintain your focus?

Wow Debra! This is absolutely beautiful. I’m enjoying the process very much.
I’m always amazed to look down at my hands and see what has grown between my needles. This morning, I cast on for a sweater and the next thing I knew, I had the yoke done. I don’t know how it happened, it just did. I think my mind takes a break while my hands take over what is now an automatic process. In part, this is why I have such trouble making lace. It involves attention that can be sustained.

I think you’re right, rudee, about hands knowing what to do when it’s something we’ve done for a while. When we relax, we enter a state of flow, I think.

I’d love to be able to help you Debra, but I can’t maintain my focus even though no one comes through my study. I can even be distracted by the fact that I really ought to be working.

Wow – it’s really looking good! As for focus? I have a lot of trouble with that so I won’t comment on it.

What a fantastic and beautiful piece!
Focus in not my strong suit lately…I’m very mentally restless and haven’t even been able to read the last couple of nights. When I do have the focus to read or write, I can’t have any distractions, so I envy you your ability to work with people around. You’ll get there. Keep up the beautiful work!

Uh, I don’t. I completely even forgot an appt yesterday, so scattered I was.
