After the Boo!
My kids are beyond the “what in heaven’s name do we do with all this candy” years, but I’ve never forgotten the question. So I looked around and found some “creative” ways to deal with all that stuff, including one that calls itself a salad. Really. Read on:
All you need is:
- a few apples, I prefer green Granny Smith apples
- a bunch of candy bars – Snickers, Baby Ruth, and 3 Musketeers work best
- Cool Whip
Cut the apples and candy bars up into small pieces and mix them with thawed Cool Whip. If the candy is too mushy to cut, put it in the fridge for a few hours.
This is quick, easy, and can be made in a large batch or small servings. Mix and put into small bowls or goblets for easy serving.
What do you do with all that stuff?

What a great idea but unfortunately my wife and I finished off all the candy and three pounds later have come to regret it.

Well, I was just wondering that as there weren’t that many kids who came to collect this year. Think we’ll forgo the ‘salad’ but thanks!
Looks like my husband, the teacher, will donate it to his students..anything to get it out of here!!

I wonder what that salad really tastes like. The kids eat some of their candy. Then, around Easter, I throw the remaining pieces out.

You are polluting perfectly good candy with fruit!?
We don’t have trick-or-treaters in our house, and we left all the candy outside for the demons of hell, so we don’t have a leftover candy problem; they cleaned out the bowl!
