My Town Monday: Cups of Kindness for Us All

Cups Of Kindness
We all really do live in the same town; it is called Planet Earth. We share the same air, drink the same water and look at the same blue sky. All of us gaze up at the same stars and are amazed by the same full moon.

We the people can solve problems that governments have caused; we the people can share our resources with our friends and neighbors—even those whom we do not know. We the people.

In this time where CHANGE is the buzzword of the day, we the people live it and do it. We are the change we wish to see in the world. Quietly, without the acrimony of politics. In our everyday life. One cup at a time.

I became much more a believer in the power of individuals after Hurricane Katrina. As the government (with the exception of the Coast Guard) claimed it could do nothing, all sorts of individuals and groups managed to sneak, float, or fly into New Orleans to help rescue people. When the residents were finally let back into the city, we relied less on government than on our neighbors, families, friends, local businesses, contractors who came in from other states, and workers from Mexico who came to help.

True. As much as think we live in our town, we live in OUR town and need to take that responsibility seriously.

You just have to look at the world economy to see how connected things really are.

Now is the time for every person to do their part in the world, rather than waiting for someone else. Thanks for a timely post, Debra.

It’s all too easy to feel isolated and powerless. Powerless even over one’s own life. So keep up the good work Debra.

It often takes a crisis to bring people together.

“We can’t always see eye to eye. But we can walk arm in arm.”

I don’t know where this if from, but I thought it fitting here.
Thank you for the MTM post!

This is a wonderful gift to the community.

An informed and active citizenry can move mountains.

I fear that with the world economic situation, the environment, the very planet we inhabit, is going to get back-burnered once again. This planet is our town, and needs some TLC.
