SpamFest: July Edition; and a Ride on the Train
Little did I know, when I wrote my last post about the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railway, that I was inviting the spammers of the world another opportunity to flood my inbox with their pieces of………..work.
When I wrote, Take a Ride on the Wild Side, I was referring to the flora and fauna of the beautiful Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
I have been offered medications, treatments and activities to enlarge body parts I never knew existed. I have been invited to watch activities that are best left unsaid.
How about you? What’s your Spam of the month?

Speaking of the train, we had the opportunity to celebrate the birthday of the proprietor of the Downtown Emporium yesterday. We boarded the train and proceeded through several railcars to the beautiful St. Lucie Sound.
We traveled from our Village of Peninsula north then back south through the Village, to Akron. The diversity of habitats was astounding. We saw wetlands and woodlands, geese and deer, and amazingly, a bald eaglet flapping it’s wings in it’s nest.
Good food, good company, an incredible view, and a celebration. A good day.

Sounds like a great excursion. Bummer about the spammers though. Will we ever be rid of them? Nope, silly question.

What a wonderful day you had!
Spammers are such a waste of time and energy!!!! The majority that I receive are body part enlargement or medications.
I’m going to have to visit the Downtown Emporium. I didn’t realize they carry so many wonderful treasures. Perhaps I’ll get some early holiday shopping done in July.

My spammers at the moment have real names like Jered and Rocco. They claim not to be able to understand the content of some of my posts but find it more interesting than other posts on the same subject! Pretty funny and I’m supposed to get a car loan from them—somehow I expect that this means I should send them money and they will buy a car or something like that. Anyway all rather tame but I know what to do to spice it up now!
Glad you had such a great day…sounds fab!

SOMEHOW, I have successfully avoided most spam recently. That IS a miracle.

Debra, you have a way of finding and sharing all the best and beautiful of NE Ohio. Thank you!

Guess I’m lucky, but other that one or two here and there, the spammers have left me and my blog alone.

You do make Ohio sound so beautiful and interesting.
I get plenty of spammers, some of whom write the most unintentionally hilarious things. For the past two weeks, I’ve had a spammer from Korea trying to get me to send in my bank details. They’re really desperate; they send me daily e-mails. The English teacher in me has a real struggle resisting the urge to point out the mistakes they’re making that clue me in to their spamminess.

Linda–it was a fabulous trip! And the spam just keeps appearing.
Mary–you’d love the Downtown Emporium. It’s a great place to find interesting and unusual things.
Some of my spammers have names, too, Cathy. If only insurance was all they wanted to sell me.
It IS a miracle, soNotcool. How did you do that?
Larramie–you also know how beautiful our neck of the woods is.
Travis—how have you avoided the spammers???
Ohio is incredibly beautiful and interesting, Mary. And the more I write, the more I learn. I’ve also had the folks from_______(fill in the country. Here are some suggestions: Korea, Nigera, Ghana) ask me to wire them money so I can help with_______________(fill in the blank. Here are some ideas to get you started: people with terminal illnesses; amazing investments; people needing to leave/arrive at a specific location). and you are absolutely correct about the grammar—–atrocious!
