Frozen in Northeast Ohio

Snow. And more snow. And more is coming; Friday is expected to bring another 4-7 inches to top off the 18 inches we already have. I felt like I stepped through the back of the Wardrobe into Narnia yesterday morning.

Walking the dogs was interesting. Snow up to my knees. A Tibetan Terrier, a Shepherd Sheltie mix and……… a toy poodle.
Lily tips the scales at 8.3 pounds but she doesn’t know that she’s small. She waited for me to go first, clearing a bit of a path as I trudged through the woods. She reminded me of a cross between a kangaroo, a rabbit, and a ballerina as she navigated the terrain, stopping to clear her face after she inhaled the cold white stuff. Snow angels for puppies!

When we returned to this old house, I placed her in tepid water to melt the snow balls that clung to every curl on her body. She shook, sprinkling the entire kitchen (and me, too); then she looked at me as if to say, “Can we go out again, Mom.”
Funny little dog.

Hi Debra! That’s funny. We had a poodle when I was a kid. Boots. She just went crazy when it snowed. When we came in we dried her with a towel then she always had a cup of tea with us. She loved hot tea with milk which she got in a saucer! Spoiled!!

My sheltie can be an angel, but backs away from the snow and opts instead for the plowed driveway!

Take heart, Debra, the forecast promises 48 degrees on Monday.

I like the idea of a poodle drinking tea out of a saucer!

I am envious: I’m not crazy about driving in snow (on the few occasions I’ve done this I don’t think my pulse ever went below 100), but I love snow. I love sitting in a warm house and looking out at it.

Our cat is completely white. When it snows, she actually looks a little dirty. It is fun to see the expression on her face as she gingerly steps outside and sinks into the snow up to her whiskers. I doubt she’d be good at driving in it either…

Yay — it’s snowing in Scotland today! I can’t get over that: yesterday I wrote that I was envious of you for having snow, and today we’ve had a couple of inches of the stuff already, and it’s still coming down!

    Debra, your blog is lucky!

Okay, for what it’s worth, I am envious of J K Rowling… (Now let’s see if anything happens!)

Cathy–Lily loves to chase snowballs—or acorns—or stones. She’d probably like to sip tea from a saucer, too if we gave her the opportunity.

Thanks for commenting Diana. Dogs and snow are great fun!

At least your dog doesn’t track the snow into the house Larramie. Sheltie fur would be a great collector of snow, or water or mud. It’s supposed to be 56 today—then back to the wintery mix tomorrow. Ah, late winter in NE Ohio.

Moanna–All of our dogs love to be outside in most any weather–except when it’s thundery and rainy—then they look at us as if to say, “Are you nuts? You want me to do what?????”

Do you generally get much snow, Mary?
Happy snow watching. I hope you don’t have to drive in it—especially with your directionally challenged daughter!

We had an unexpected sprinkling of snow this week, I don’t know who had more fun … the kids or the dogs & cats!

I’m glad your dogs like the snow. I used to have one that wouldn’t go out, unless forced, unless the weather was perfect.

It’s good to see you again, Rebecca. One of our cats, Dylan, is white with a couple of black areas. She likes to walk in the woods with us. In the dark, we hear a mrow, and see black spots moving against the snow.
    Do you get much snow?

Linda–the dogs like the snow, but rain is another story. They look at us as if to say, “You want me to do w-h-a-t?!?!?!”

Our smattering of snow melted, sadly — but it was really beautiful!

No, we get very little snow here, and I am snow deprived. And I would only drive in it if there was a REAL emergency!
