Rainy Day Musings

Here in NE Ohio it has been raining. And raining. And raining. The green that we see all around us isn’t just the lush green of late summer; it’s mold and algae. It’s pretty incredible: Nature fills her spaces.

The septic system outside the studio/gallery has been in the process of being replaced for several weeks. After a very dry summer, the rains began the day after the workers began to dig. Trenches filled with water and the sides caved in. The work was suspended several times. The road was closed and an the entrance to our parking lot became an obstacle course. This is not good for walk-in traffic and retail business; it is, however, an opportunity to focus on production work.

The rains continue as I write this. I feel like cocooning with a cup of something and a good book. Some days are just like this.

Sounds like you took lemons and made lemonade, Debra. After all, every cloud has a silver lining…if you look for it.

Lots of opportunities to find the silver linings in NE Ohio these days!

Yeah, some days are. But a good book and a cuppa usually set things right.

Most of our summer in Ireland has been similar, but minus the septic system scenario!

It’s been so wet I’m growing algae behind my knees. And now with the heat, it’s beginning to steam back there.

Someone came into the studio and exclaimed that it is so green here. Little did they know that the green is mold :-)
